All prints are made-to-order and will require one to two weeks’ production time before being shipped. Each order will be acknowledged after payment has been received to confirm the shipping date. To customers who order prints of the same image subsequent to their original order, there may be slight variations in image density and/or contrast when compared to the initial print. If exact matching prints are desired, these should be ordered at the same time.
All prints are shipped flat, durably mounted on high quality backing board with two inch borders top and sides and a five inch border at bottom.
Custom Matting and Framing crafted to fit the Mount Board Size shown will be required to complete the presentation. The bottom border will show below the lower right corner of the image the photographer’s signature. Due to slight size variations please await receipt of your mounted print before ordering custom matting and framing from your local vendor.

Starting up the steep Deer Creek trail, which parallels the west side of the continental divide in eastern Summit County, Colorado on a clear, cold late December day, it did not appear that there would be any exceptional landscape photography opportunities.
On cross-country skis, carrying ten pounds of photo gear, I could not help but wonder if I’d made a mistake in choosing this day to trudge up the trail. The trail’s beginning consists of a five to ten percent grade for at least a half-mile at more than 10,500 feet elevation. After finally reaching a gentler grade, one is always sweating…regardless of the air temperature. I was no exception.
Clear skies are generally considered by most landscape photographers to offer little photographic potential. Fully aware of this fact, but venturing out anyway, I also knew there is always a chance of seeing something entirely unexpected.
After skiing a mile or so in a southerly direction, I turned to look back over my shoulder to the north to survey the surrounding peaks and assess the foreground for a good photographic vantage point.
Much to my amazement, a well-defined storm front was quickly making its way over the distant ridge into my full view! Luck was on my side, as was my Leica M-3 fitted with a 50mm f2.0 Summicron lens. With a deep orange filter on this lens to darken the blue sky and Kodak black and white film loaded in the Leica, I was fortunate to obtain a dramatic image of an otherwise typical back country winter scene.
