All prints are made-to-order and will require one to two weeks’ production time before being shipped. Each order will be acknowledged after payment has been received to confirm the shipping date. To customers who order prints of the same image subsequent to their original order, there may be slight variations in image density and/or contrast when compared to the initial print. If exact matching prints are desired, these should be ordered at the same time.
All prints are shipped flat, durably mounted on high quality backing board with two inch borders top and sides and a five inch border at bottom.
Custom Matting and Framing crafted to fit the Mount Board Size shown will be required to complete the presentation. The bottom border will show below the lower right corner of the image the photographer’s signature. Due to slight size variations please await receipt of your mounted print before ordering custom matting and framing from your local vendor.

After thirteen years I returned to this striking formation during fall colors in 2024 to photograph the scene this time with a 5×7 Linhof Technika using a Schneider Angulon165mm f6.8 wide angle lens on black and white film. Though not nearly as wide a field of view as the image made years before with a Nikkor 15mm lens on my D700 digital camera, this black and white photograph clearly demonstrates the trade off in the use of extreme wide angle lenses for alpine landscape photography. As the field of view expands, objects in the scene are logically diminished in size to in order to be optically squeezed into the frame. This unavoidable consequence diminishes the impact and apparent scale of mountainous features.
Gold Camp Road, originally the railroad connection from the gold mine at Cripple Creek to the smelter in Colorado Springs now exists as a gravel road with many mountain views between the two communities. The gold mine at Cripple Creek remains in production, but the smelter in Colorado Springs has long been removed.
