All prints are made-to-order and will require one to two weeks’ production time before being shipped. Each order will be acknowledged after payment has been received to confirm the shipping date. To customers who order prints of the same image subsequent to their original order, there may be slight variations in image density and/or contrast when compared to the initial print. If exact matching prints are desired, these should be ordered at the same time.
All prints are shipped flat, durably mounted on high quality backing board with two inch borders top and sides and a five inch border at bottom.
Custom Matting and Framing crafted to fit the Mount Board Size shown will be required to complete the presentation. The bottom border will show below the lower right corner of the image the photographer’s signature. Due to slight size variations please await receipt of your mounted print before ordering custom matting and framing from your local vendor.

Aspen Groves on a Hillside at Last Light, Placita, Colorado, September 23, 2025
At the south end of the Crystal River Valley where State Highway 133 deviates from the river’s course and begins its climb over McClure Pass, the splendid hill sides of Placita are festooned with aspen trees in myriad patterns. I arrived at this area in the late afternoon as a clearing storm finally departed the area just in time for the sun to break through before setting behind a high ridge to the west. I could not have arrived more conveniently, making up for the frustration I had experienced earlier this day in waiting far too long for clouds to clear over Mt. Sopris to the north. Quickly getting my tripod set up and mounting the 5×7 Stenopeika camera with its 450mm f9 Nikkor lens, I was able to make three excellent negatives on Kodak film in the brief time the sun made its appearance. The sun’s rays coming over my right shoulder gave definition to the aspen trees in a way no diffused light can, resulting in remarkable delineation of every tree in this image.
