Dead Horse Point, Utah, Early Morning, March 25, 2025
Price range: $699.00 through $1,099.00
In stock
Photographed about one-half hour after sunrise on a clear morning, Dead Horse Point’s sedimentary sandstone colors become something entirely different that the pre-dawn magenta/reds in the image posted a few weeks ago.
I again used my Nikon D850 equipped with a Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8E ED zoom lens set to 26mm for this image.
Clearly in the spring, light quality and sun angle favor a morning photograph of Dead Horse Point, compared to late afternoon shots where the sun’s glare and back lighting are challenging to the photographer.
Those following my work may wonder why the multiple numbers of Dead Horse Point photographs in color and black and white? On my fourth or fifth trip to this stunning place of beauty on March 25, 2025, I brought three backpacks full of photography gear and two tripods. This is one of my favorite places, and I desired to have the best possible color and black and white images in my portfolio. In short, I went “all in” on this visit.
My gear consisted of the Nikon D-850 Digital Single Lens Reflex for this digital color photograph, a DAYI Chinese Panorama Film Camera for black and white panorama images, one of which has just been posted, and a 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ Fuji G690 medium format film camera system for further black and white photographs in the same proportion as the color image, that is 2:3 width-to-length.
One more photograph of Dead Horse Point from this visit will be posted in the coming days.
