Green Mountain Reservoir Looking toward the Ptarmigan Wilderness Area, Summit Co., Colorado, May 25, 2025

Taken before the spring snowmelt has begun, Green Mountain Reservoir’s layered “peninsulas” lead the eye toward the distant Ptarmigan Wilderness Peaks along the west side of the Continental Divide.  The reservoir is fed by a tributary of the Colorado River, the Blue River, which empties into the Colorado, the largest river in the Western United States at Kremmling.

Using a Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome camera equipped with a 70-200 f2.8 Pentax FA Lens zoomed to 88mm, there is no negative of this image, which has instead been captured using the camera’s special dedicated monochrome sensor.  As a result, inkjet prints are available from this image.
